In fact, I myself became of interest to the designers, as I was the epitome of the target market. Based upon the research findings of Product Planning, the Design Context Laboratory took the data a little further into the language of the designer. We brought a group of young creatives (the target market) into the studio for special events where they would engage with the designers. Both organizations use the arts as a method of supporting immigrant and at-risk youth in underserved communities in San Diego. The AjA Project uses the concept of participatory photography for refugee and immigrant teenagers to reflect on their life journeys thus far. The photographic product is meant to inform the larger community of their neighbors and the effects of war and the hardships of immigration. For 4 Corners, I curated all images, audio recordings, and video footage from AjA Project student work. I put it together according to the theme or story for each dance segment. Many of the stories were directly from AjA Project student's journeys. The app was designed to enhance the visitor's experience, but is equally effective for the off-campus user. At the Hammer I have produced over 40 videos in conjunction with exhibitions, be it artist or curator interviews or creative documentation. This video is one of my favorites. Los Angeles-based artist Julian Hoeber uses a wide range of media---including sculpture, drawing, filmmaking, installation, and photography---to explore psychology, emotion and narrative. For this exhibition, Hoeber presents Demon Hill, a freestanding structure based on the architecture of "gravitational mystery spots." Installed on the Museum's Lindbrook Terrace, Demon Hill is a combination art installation and roadside attraction, transplanted to the marble terrace of the Museum. (Run time: 5 min, 20 sec.)
